Highly recommended. Great advise to the reader to help anyone being lured into cults. The preventative methods given are excellent. A non-catholic will be able to utilise the same strategies given. Also the book provides practical tips to help victims caught in a cult and for those who recently left a cult. Ultimately prevention is better than a cure
Gary Michuta has done it again! This book is a fantastic example of just why it's absolutely necessary to be able to provide a cogent defense of the faith that Jesus Christ has left us. In this book, Michuta presents the tactics and at times dishonesty that people of other religious affiliations use in order to drive Catholics outside the flock and into another group. As a former Protestant I remember the tactics used within the various churches I would attend. I can tell you that the presentation Michuta gives is straight on correct! Without a doubt there are some individuals saying to themselves, "What if my child has already left the faith and gone to another church?" Gary's got you covered here also! In the 5th chapter of this book, Gary covers the basics of what to do if your child has already left the Catholic faith. And for those of you that are worrying that your child is on the verge of being recruited by a "wolf", or "wolves" for that matter, a chapter earlier(4) covers the whole process, tactics, and advice to give someone an upper hand in keeping their loved one in the fold.
The most interesting thing that makes this book readable to any type of individual is the fact that Gary intertwines real life stories together with real life solid apologetics advice. There are many protestant denominations out there, disguising themselves as authentic Christianity. The advice provided in this book can help combat these groups in an effective manner. What is presented here is authentic Christianity, put forth in a charitable manner from Mr. Michuta. For anyone interested in great resources, this book provides you with even more for you to chew on! This book is recommended for anyone that is serious about either helping their loved one returning to the flock, interested in PREVENTING someone from LEAVING the flock, or even someone that is interested in seeing the devious tactics put forth by other religious individuals. This book is a MUST-read. If it isn't on your book shelf, next to your apologetics material, it should be!

"Wolf-Proof" means to protect your Roman Catholic children from people in cults or even other Christian faiths who would use "illegitimate or manipulative means to pull someone away from their faith and into another". This book covers everything a parent could need, including exposing "wolf" techniques like social manipulation, using half-truths and distortions, suppressing critical information, "lying for the Lord", and so much more. It covers how to tell if your child is being recruited and effective ways to intervene before, during, and after recruitment.
The book explores "the three-cord rope of catechesis, apologetics, and evangelism" and how to use it with your children on a day-to-day basis in the home. It explains how to teach critical thinking, and provides ways of interacting together in fun ways like games that will strengthen your child. It includes hard-core preparation training like basic work in defending the faith--and how to make it fun. It includes how someone would be led to self-indoctrinate, common steps to recruitment, and techniques like missionary dating. It covers how to set an example for your children and why it is important to know the history of Christianity.
The book includes media topics like how to distinguish entertainment from subtle propaganda, how negative Catholic associations are often portrayed in the media, and how to evaluate children's programming.
The book is filled with many common scenarios and examples so that you can apply the concepts and more fully understand them. It also includes appendices full of additional resources.
Best of all is the approaches advocated by the author are kind and loving. The author writes that "Instilling bigotry is intellectually dishonest and morally wrong", so the best defense then is not to fight fire with fire by using the techniques of the wolves, but to educate your child, prepare them, instill an authentic Catholic faith life in them, and avoid bigotry yourself. This book will show you how to take ethical and effective attitudes when explaining the faith and when doing apologetics work with the "wolves".
I am a revert who had been recruited out of my childhood Catholic faith into a long journey through Protestant and cultic groups. I finally found my way back home to the Catholic Church, but not without a heavy cost. I relived the mistakes I made and this book was very revealing and helpful to me.
